Thanks for the news Garrishay, I have not been able to really follow the local Pop Warner they way I should have since I started coaching high school ball. Thats a shame, but Beatties Ford does have a bit of a rep around here
04-01-2009 at 10:41 AM
I am not sure which programs will benefit most, but the Steele Creek Seahawks will be getting kids from a middle school that has not lost a game in two years

UF is getting better every week. they should have finished the season 11-1, but they have the whole squad coming back
11-24-2007 at 10:58 PM
But they did own Mississippi state
11-24-2007 at 10:58 PM
WVU is real average, they cant beat any team with reasonable speed on defense
11-24-2007 at 08:50 PM
I am in Charlotte Topchoice, just got home from the MidSouth games in Gastonia.

Just Kidding PH, sounds like yall had a good game. I wouldnt want to see that defense.

01-02-2007 at 01:15 PM
Why is my opinion on trial. I can not answer for the whole Firecat organization?
01-02-2007 at 01:14 PM
The structure, the value of academics, cheerleading isnt considered secondary. Why is my opinion on trial?
01-02-2007 at 01:10 PM
Well, I guess I can no longer say we since I am no longer in Florida.
01-02-2007 at 01:09 PM
I am not going to speak on Greater Miami, but we considered leaving Pop Warner because of the "issues" But the overall value of Pop Warner outweighed the issues within the conferece
01-02-2007 at 01:08 PM
Riverdale and Fort Myers were in 1st and 2nd at all levels but peewee
01-02-2007 at 01:07 PM
We were in a 20 team league. Only 2 teams minority
01-02-2007 at 01:07 PM
I am doing well, its freezing in Charlotte though. I am however adjusting. I am not starting mess bgirl, I love Pop Warner and think it is the best organization. But there are bad apples in every bushel
01-02-2007 at 01:06 PM
With competitve cheerleading growing so fast youth football and cheerleading are two different sports that meet on some Saturdays.
01-02-2007 at 01:05 PM
We had 3 playoff teams, two in first place, yet we had to travel to play against a 4th seeded team at all levels
01-02-2007 at 01:04 PM
hi
01-02-2007 at 01:04 PM
I hate to play devils advocate, but minority organizations in certain regions do have it a little rougher in florida. Peace River Conference routinely hoses the Firecats organization
12-27-2006 at 02:16 PM
I have been outcoached, I have been beaten by better teams. Its part of football, unless you are Jim Tressel you have at some point been outcoached
12-27-2006 at 02:15 PM
A lot of coaches will never admit that they have been outcoached though
12-26-2006 at 12:08 PM
Washington also needs a new coach, I love Joe Gibbs, but the team is predictable, I think a coach like Les Miles would fit in well
12-26-2006 at 12:05 PM
Yeah, he built Tony Dungys Bucs teams, and built this Falcons team
12-26-2006 at 12:02 PM
Washington needs to spend the money to get Rich Mckay from Atlanta
12-26-2006 at 12:01 PM
He is fine where he is. He knows what Portis is capable of, and what he is capable of, as long as CP is in town he will do what he has to do. I do not think he would be happy as a backup on another team though
12-26-2006 at 11:59 AM
He is fine behind Portis as long as he gets his carries, Bush is getting 20 touches a game along with Duece, it can work in Washington
12-26-2006 at 11:58 AM
He feels the pressure of a starter because he has had to do it for much longer than a quick fix for two or three weeks
12-26-2006 at 11:57 AM
He knows he can start and do well, he is averaging 130 yards a game. That has nothing to do with Portis being there or not. If he did it for one game fine, but he has been doing it for several weeks.
12-26-2006 at 11:56 AM
When he renegotiated his contract it was expecting to be a number two back, he was told that he could ever supplant Portis, I know, he is my cousin
12-26-2006 at 11:52 AM
it makes the most sense to keep both, you give Portis about 17-20 carries a game, you give Betts 10-12. You keep Portis healthy and defenses guessing
12-26-2006 at 11:50 AM
Betts is a good starter, Portis is special, its just like the situation in New Orleans with Bush and Mcallister
12-26-2006 at 11:48 AM
Betts already signed an extension
12-26-2006 at 11:46 AM
Betts was a successful back before Portis came to Washington

12-25-2006 at 09:42 PM

I dont mean to seem one sided, I care about all of the kids. Not just some of them, I want them all to get some shine.
12-11-2006 at 02:16 PM
Sometimes people have stuff to get off of their chests. I just didnt want their hate to show up in threads congratulating the kids, its not fair for the kids to have to read about how pissed someone is, or who thinks they cheated while they are reading about being congratulated.
12-11-2006 at 02:08 PM
Well its one of those things, Jon Gruden looked like he had it going on with Tony Dungy's team. Hopefully I dont look like Jon Gruden now...
12-11-2006 at 02:05 PM
Yeah, I will be with a team that has not had much success so it will be interesting to see if I can really coach, or if I was a product of good athletes
12-11-2006 at 02:04 PM
Leaving soon, I have my place. Just not ready for the cold weather yet. School doesnt start until jan 8th so I will procrastinate a little longer
12-11-2006 at 02:03 PM
But my teams lack of success in the playoffs forced me to see what everyone else was doing, specifically NC, and the PNW
12-11-2006 at 02:02 PM
I am still in Florida
12-11-2006 at 02:01 PM
Everyone gets so caught up in their own moment that they sometimes forget they arent the only team to win something
12-11-2006 at 02:01 PM
Its not like I was a part of one of those teams
12-11-2006 at 02:01 PM
Just speaking up for those with no voice
12-11-2006 at 01:58 PM
Everyone needs to recognize that North Carolina brought home 3 rings, not all D1, but 3 rings is a good year for 1 state
12-10-2006 at 02:41 PM
That is why I made the move, there was a better cost of living, plenty of activities, and more employment opportunities. And the cost of living is great. I love it up here, the unfortunate part is that I am going to miss the kids I coached.
12-10-2006 at 02:40 PM
actually I really like the Charlotte area....
12-10-2006 at 09:03 AM
Unfortunately I am now living in NC so I will not be a participating coach with that team. They will be comparable in athleticism to the Miami team.
12-10-2006 at 09:02 AM
Yeah, the Fort Myers all stars will be there
12-09-2006 at 09:29 PM
The game could have gone either way. We didnt get robbed though. We blew our game against Manatee. If Manatee handles their business those two times inside the 5 we have a different ballgame. Or, we dont get the roughing penalty, or the TD called back, or the late hit. That makes a 21 point swing in the Firecats favor. We lost man, we just gotta deal with it. Manatee will be back.
12-09-2006 at 07:16 PM
FYD Manatee had their chance, just like we did. We were better than Manatee, Manatee was better than Palmetto. Well either way we lost, lets not be haters.
12-09-2006 at 03:04 PM
Marshall Heights is going to win this one,
12-09-2006 at 01:48 PM
Props to White Oak
12-09-2006 at 01:48 PM
Props to the OG
12-09-2006 at 01:46 PM
But props to the LC coaching staff, they kept our offense off of the field with power football until our kids got tired
12-09-2006 at 01:45 PM
We ran out of gas in the 4th quarter.
12-09-2006 at 01:45 PM
Whenever one kid got tired, we were hurting.
12-09-2006 at 01:44 PM
Not when 7 of your 17 are minimum play kids
12-09-2006 at 01:43 PM
Everyone went to talking about how great they were, and we almost beat them, should have beat them with only 17 kids.....AHHHHH
12-09-2006 at 01:40 PM
We lost to LC 14-13 last year. Still havent gotten over it....
12-09-2006 at 01:33 PM
That Marlow Heights team plays with a lot of heart. I keep writing them off, and they keep coming back.
12-09-2006 at 01:28 PM
Hype is something manufactured, White Oak has been winning big games for a while. Strong program
12-09-2006 at 12:57 PM
We were better than Lukes team
12-09-2006 at 12:41 PM
What you know bout that> lol, Deion is looking out for him.
12-09-2006 at 12:40 PM
I see Rainey like Ginn. He is the best open field runner I have ever seen at this level. Rainey will excel in the UF offense. Deving will be used like Booker
12-09-2006 at 12:40 PM
Yeah, you have to be three years removed from your high school graduation to get in the draft. So he has to stay till then
12-09-2006 at 12:39 PM
SAT may keep him out of FSU. He tries hard, but he is not very smart
12-09-2006 at 12:36 PM
typo
12-09-2006 at 12:36 PM
Devine at USF
12-09-2006 at 12:36 PM
I think they both made the best moves. But Rainey will probably end up at USF
12-09-2006 at 12:36 PM
Rainey is faster
12-09-2006 at 12:35 PM
Rainey wouldnt fit into the FSU offense and his talent would be wasted. UF will use him in the slot and he will be Ted Ginn in two years
12-09-2006 at 12:35 PM
Nah, I am not a fan of backs that cant take hits, I am not a fan of Booker....The only smallish backs I like are Warrick Dunn, and Leon Washington
12-09-2006 at 12:33 PM
Devine and Rainey are very different players. Devine is more of a Lorenzo Booker type, Rainey is more of a Santana Moss type player.
12-09-2006 at 12:32 PM
Manatee was good. They should have been playing Lakeland. They let STA come back from 10 down late in the 4th
12-09-2006 at 12:32 PM
The same way Manatee stopped the back that ran for 175 against Lakeland
12-09-2006 at 12:31 PM
Devine reminds me of Lorenzo Booker
12-09-2006 at 12:31 PM
Leon is much stronger and thicker than Devine
12-09-2006 at 12:31 PM
I played for FSU
12-09-2006 at 12:31 PM
The difference between the two is that Devine can do everything that Rainey can do, but Rainey cant do everything Devine can do. If your offense is going to feature your back always in space, Rainey is a safer pick. If you need him to do anything between the tackles I like Devine.
12-09-2006 at 12:29 PM
I agree that he will be like willie reid. I like Devine as more of a slot/wingback
12-09-2006 at 12:29 PM
Devine had to make those crazy moves, his team was garbage
12-09-2006 at 12:28 PM
Percy Harvin will win the Heisman in two years
12-09-2006 at 12:28 PM
I think that worked out pretty well didnt it?
12-09-2006 at 12:28 PM
The reason Rainey is being recruited as a receiver is because he cant run between the tackles
12-09-2006 at 12:27 PM
I think Rainey is the best open field runner in the nation, but he cant run between the tackles
12-09-2006 at 12:27 PM
He made it to the league didnt he
12-09-2006 at 12:27 PM
He is tough
12-09-2006 at 12:26 PM
Rainey separates his shoulder because he cant take a hit
12-09-2006 at 12:25 PM
I would rather have Rainey on my track team though
12-09-2006 at 12:25 PM
Rainey goes down too easy
12-09-2006 at 12:25 PM
I like a back that can break tackles
12-09-2006 at 12:25 PM
Devine
12-09-2006 at 12:25 PM
He is currently playing WR and doing quite well
12-09-2006 at 12:24 PM
I guess they dont know what they are doing either
12-09-2006 at 12:24 PM
That is not my rankings but RIVALS.com
12-09-2006 at 12:24 PM
Chris Rainey # 23 wr on Rivals.com
12-09-2006 at 12:23 PM
Noel Devine #1

12-09-2006 at 12:21 PM
Marlow will lose, Marshall Heights will win
12-09-2006 at 12:20 PM
Lee County was definetely one of the weaker regions, but he ran well against Manatee who took STA to triple ot
12-09-2006 at 12:19 PM
The only strong teams he saw were Manatee, and Largo. He went for 135 against Manatee, and was held to 200 against Largo
12-09-2006 at 12:19 PM
Both backs will be effective at the next level, but Devine is better.
12-09-2006 at 12:18 PM
ITs the little things that I see Devine do that Rainey cant
12-09-2006 at 12:17 PM
Rainey played behind the best offensive line in the nation. Devine played with a JV team
12-09-2006 at 12:17 PM
Rainey cant break tackles, he has no stiff arm either. Devine is a more complete back,
12-09-2006 at 12:16 PM
I think Rainey could play rb if he added a few pounds, his vision is amazing
12-09-2006 at 12:16 PM
Devine can do things that Rainey cant thats all. And Rainey is on a much better team. Devine is a one man show....
12-09-2006 at 12:15 PM
That Lakeland team is unreal. 8 offensive starters with D1 commits.
12-09-2006 at 12:14 PM
Rainey will be a great receiver at Florida, he isnt better than Devine though.
12-09-2006 at 12:09 PM
THeir skill players were as good as Lakeland
12-09-2006 at 12:08 PM
Lakeland got robbed man, but STA was VERY good

I agree M$Ms, but that would be SOOOO many organizations
12-07-2006 at 10:37 AM
If Beacon House stays intact and Marshall Heights stays on Par that will be crucial. Next year the Firecats will be a playoff team, but wont have the horses to get deep into the playoffs.
12-07-2006 at 10:36 AM
Yeah they do....
12-07-2006 at 10:35 AM
And Lakeland is only 25 minutes from Disney
12-07-2006 at 10:34 AM
AYFL had their ship in Lakeland and the Kids went to Busch Gardens in Tampa...
12-07-2006 at 10:33 AM
Yeah, I like the fact that the AYFL has age AND weight classes...I remember playing on a Non weight restricted team in 8 th grade...I loved it

Yeah it can, but I never knew about Pop Warner growing up. We were happy with our City league and a bowl game

Yeah, our fee when I coached NYFL was 45 dollars, Pop Warner 125

I coached in NYFL and we played in Daytona Beach every Thanksgiving
12-07-2006 at 10:27 AM
They also get more sponsership money from the NFL

The NYFL is a good league...They hold their nationals in Florida the same week as Pop Warner

We were this years 2001 Sweetwater
12-07-2006 at 10:22 AM
We have teams going over 100 miles for games
12-07-2006 at 10:22 AM
Our conference is so spread out, we have teams that travel from Naples all the way to Sarasota....Because of this some of the Naples teams have joined the EXTREME league in Miami....Its the same distance
12-07-2006 at 10:21 AM
No, I am talking about our Conference, Peace River in Pop Warner
12-07-2006 at 10:20 AM
It happens DOBC, I thought Sweetwater would be at Disney
12-07-2006 at 10:19 AM
We are trying to get the conference to split into a North, Central, and South because the Lee County teams have running clocks every week against the smaller communities
12-07-2006 at 10:18 AM
Nah, our conference covers Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Sarasota, and Hendry Counties. We have 20 teams in our conference
12-07-2006 at 10:17 AM
Jacksonville still is strong though even with all of the athletes you are losing.
12-07-2006 at 10:16 AM
your region sounds like Columbus....The athletes are there, and so is the coaching, its getting used to the higher levels of competition that matters.

We have the same rule Jax, Middle school football is killing our D2 teams, so most of our D2 teams at the Midget level should be JRM, and so on....
12-07-2006 at 10:13 AM
3 6ft JRM, man that is a matchup nightmare!
12-07-2006 at 10:13 AM
We had two of them also, good footwork, good wind, and great hands, we just didnt have a very good passing QB
12-07-2006 at 10:12 AM
Most of our D2 teams in Florida are VERY weak....We have a few strong programs at D2, but heck, in our conference we are looking at rinning clocks 8 of 9 games every year....
12-07-2006 at 10:11 AM
But a lot of the D2 teams from up there are VERY strong, we lost to the Manatee Mustangs, I know you remember them
12-07-2006 at 10:10 AM
Well you guys have the athletes up there, but I know a lot of the athletes up there prefer basketball
12-07-2006 at 10:02 AM
Will Philly be sending a team to the Battle of Starz 2?
12-07-2006 at 10:01 AM
I am actually glad the Pacific Northwest, and the East are doing so well this year
12-07-2006 at 10:00 AM
I think this years Bisons were as strong as that 2001 team...
12-07-2006 at 10:00 AM
I feel you, those who didnt roll with, got rolled on.....
12-07-2006 at 09:59 AM
Marshall Heights is the best team in the NATION period....Never said they werent
12-07-2006 at 09:53 AM
BTW, that was no BS about our teams leaving Pop Warner M$MS...I told you well before t hat game that Palmetto wasnt our best team...But our best teams would not have beaten Marshall Heights this year
